Michael S. Perkins

Retired educator and full time Alaskan

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have worked as a teacher, counselor, and principal in two states, three districts, and six different schools. As a public school educator for thirty-two years, I have had the privilege of leading numerous school trips starting with my first trip to Washington, DC, with 99 students in 1989.  Since that time, I have had the opportunity to organize school-exchange programs to both Russia and Japan, and have coordinated dozens of trips to the east coast and have loved every minute, witnessing the hands-on learning that takes place as our young people immerse themselves in a world-wide classroom. I have now decided to focus exclusively on Alaska to share our wilderness opportunities along the culture of our original people, with many opportunities to create a customized trip to meet the needs of students and teachers.

I love to travel myself, and my goal with Alaskan Student Travel, is to teach students the important skills they need to know to be safe travelers, while learning more about history, culture, and, most importantly, themselves.  I look forward to helping students and teachers from all over the world learn about Alaska, the Last Frontier.
