School trips to Alaska Mount McKinley

Matthew Moscato

Pembroke Veterans Outreach Club Advisor

“This past July, the Pembroke Veterans Outreach Club traveled to Alaska. The arrangements were made through Alaskan Student Travel, which is owned and operated by Michael Perkins. The excursion was not your average run of the mill trip with quick tourist stops. Michael worked with our group to develop an immersive experience for all of the kids and adults on the trip. Highlights included the Seward 4th of July Parade, a float down the Kenai River, lodging in cabins, running the rapids of 6 Mile River, volunteering at Battle Dawgs, hikes in Denali National Park, exploring the quaint town of Talkeetna and hiking the hidden valleys of Hatcher Pass.

All of the arrangements from food, transportation and activities were prepared and organized by Michael with our input. The communication, flexibility, and accommodations by Micheal were excellent and always met the needs of our group. We were able to be flexible with our schedule and whenever changes were needed, Michael was more than willing to make those changes. When our next group goes up in a couple of years, we will definitely be using Alaskan Student Travel. Mike made the entire experience fun and it provided a great learning environment for kids and adults. I could not more highly recommend Michael Perkins and Alaska Student Travel.”

“Michael Perkins, Owner of Alaskan Student Travel & Consulting company delivers outstanding service at remarkable prices. My colleague and I recently met with Michael to customize an academic field experience for our college students with the diverse culture of the indigenous people groups in Alaska . Michael actively listened as my colleague and I visited and reviewed each of the educational experiences he planned. Michael’s desire was to ensure the best, customized field experience for our students. We appreciated Michael’s attention to detail for our itinerary, and his knowledge of planning meaningful events. Michael’s choices for comfortable accommodations, good restaurants with options for special dietary needs, safe transportation, and preparation for potential emergency situations resulted in a confident, positive decision to use Alaskan Student Travel & Consulting company for our students’ field experience to Alaska.”

Pembroke Veterans Outreach

“My colleague and I recently traveled with Michael Perkins, owner of Alaskan Student Travel and Consulting, LLC. Together, we advise the Pembroke Veterans Outreach Club ran by a group of  High School students located in Western New York. Our clubs goal is to honor and assist our local veterans. Each year our club sponsors a local veteran and they are sent to Battle Dawgs in Talkeetna, an outdoor rehabilitation program for our nations wounded veterans. My colleague envisioned a unique experience which included learning, adventure, and volunteering with our club members at Battle Dawgs. Michael's ability to plan an itinerary customized to fit the vision for our group was impressive. The knowledge Michael has of the area benefited our travel accommodations and "on the go" needs.

While on our Alaskan Adventure, our busy schedule included The Alaska SeaLife Center,  Kenai River Float, Russian Lakes Hiking Trails, White Water Rafting , Whittier Glacier Tours, Denali, Talkeetna, and Hatchers Pass. Michael booked all of these amazing experiences, along with airline, and bus transportation. Our bus driver Levi was even terrific. Overall, we were extremely pleased with all of Michael's dedication to ensure our trip was a memorable experience.

Brian Walker an Alaska Native also joined us on our adventure. Learning about his indigenous heritage was an added bonus. Brian taught our students about the World Eskimo Olympics and they were able to participate in a few of their "own events.'

Thank you Michael Perkins, Brian Walker, and Levi for making our Alaskan Adventure a reality. We came home with some wonderful memories and look forward to returning to travel with you again!”

“The Shoreline Community College Jazz Ensemble travels every spring to participate in various festivals and to experience cultural tourist destinations. This year we used the services of Michael Perkins at Alaska Student Travel and Consulting, LLC. to plan our band trip to Alaska. It was an incredible trip filled with performances at 8 middle schools and high schools in the greater Anchorage area. The enthusiasm of the local students at these diverse schools was so fulfilling, creating a strong and memorable bond for the group. We also visited the Anchorage Museum and Heritage Center. These amazing cultural attractions were made more informative and richer due to our personal guide, Brian Walker, who is a Native Alaskan. His unique insight, experience and historical perspective added so much depth to our experience.

Alaska Student Travel and Consulting, LLC. took care of all the details for this epic journey. They booked the flights and hotel rooms, coordinated our school performances, and visits to the museums, shopping excursions, Wildlife Conservation Center and the Alaskan Sealife Center. We were even taken on a beautiful hike to see some of Alaska’s most breathtaking views.

We are grateful to Michael Perkins and Brian Walker at Alaska Student Travel for creating so many wonderful memories for our entire group. We will return!"
